Tour itinerary

Day 1:

Arrival in Baku

Meeting at the airport, transfer to the hotel

Check-in at 4 * hotel in the city center, check-in at the hotel and free time till the evening.  

Excursion 1: Walking tour in the famous Nizami street.

Nizami Street is a large pedestrian and shopping street in downtown BakuAzerbaijan, named after famed classical poet Nizami Ganjavi. The traffic – free segment, which begins at the Fountains Square and ends at the Rashid Behbudov Street, is commonly known as Torgovaya (“the merchant street” in Russian).

Dinner at Karvansaray Restaurant with traditional music and local meals or any other similar restaurant.

Karvansaray Restaurant is one of the oldest traditional restaurants in Baku, Azerbaijan. You will enjoy traditional Azeri food with local wine and a splendid show.

Day 2:

Excursion 1: Baku Highland Park with funicular.

Excursion 2: Old City-“Icheri Sheher” (including Palace of the Shirvanshahs and Maiden Tower)

Old City or Inner City is the historical core of Baku. Baku was divided into two sections: Ichari Shahar and Bayir Shahar. The Inner City was the main part. In December 2000, the Old City of Baku, including the Palace of the Shirvanshahs and Maiden Tower, became the first location in Azerbaijan to be classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Excursion 3: Flag Square and Carpet Museum

The Azerbaijan Carpet Museum is the treasury of Azerbaijan national Culture. Established for researching, keeping and displaying carpets and carpet items, as well as applied art works, The Museum has the largest collection of Azerbaijan carpets in the world, of different weaving techniques and materials.

Excursion 4: Ateshgah (The Fire Worshippers’ Temple)

Excursion 5: Yanar Dag (Fire Mountain)

The Baku Ateshgah or “Fire Temple” is a castle-like religious structure in Surakhani, a suburb of greater BakuAzerbaijan. “Atash” is the Persian word for fire. The pentagonal complex, which has a courtyard surrounded by cells for monks and a tetra pillar-altar in the middle, was built during the 17th and 18th centuries. It was abandoned after 1883 when oil and gas plants were established in the vicinity. It is one of the most important centers of Zoroastrianism in the history.

Excursion 1: Qala Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum Complex

The Qala Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum Complex in the open air to preserve the monuments in the territory of the Qala State History and Ethnography Museum and enrich the Preserve by bringing in archaeological finds discovered in Absheron. Petroglyphs covering the period from the 3rd and 2nd millennia B.C. to the Middle Ages, gavaldash (tambourine stone), ceramics, domestic and adornment items, weapons and coins, conserved remnants of an ancient residential complex etc. found in the Absheron peninsula were placed at the Complex.

Museums:”Qala” Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum Complex , “Qala” Castle Museum and “Qala” Antiques Museum.

During the excursion, you may learn to bake bread, weave, iron forge from professional masters for extra payment.

Excursion 1: Gobustan National Park (reserve) and Mud Volcanoes.

Gobustan National Park officially Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape is a hill and mountain site occupying the southeast end of the Big Caucasian Ridge in Azerbaijan, mainly in the basin of Jeyrankechmaz River, between the rivers Pirsaat and Sumgait. In 1966 Gobustan was declared a national historical landmark of Azerbaijan in an attempt to preserve the ancient carvings, relics, mud volcanoes and gas-stones in the region.

Excursion 2: “Fireland Vineyards” wine factory and wine degustation.

Lahij village tour. Check out from the hotel departure from Baku to Northern part of Azerbaijan, Ismailli city.

12:00 –Arrival at Ismailli city, check – in at 3* hotel in Lahij settlement, free time

13:30 – 14:30 Lunch at a family house with local meals.

Excursion 1:  Lahij village the settlement of all the historical monuments.

Lahij is a village and municipality on the southern slopes of Greater Caucasus within the Ismailli region of Azerbaijan. Population is approximately 860 people who speak the variation of Tati – Lahiji language. Lahij is a notable place in Azerbaijan, with its authentic handicrafts traditions, particularly related to copper. The village’s carpet and rug crafts are also well known in Azerbaijan and the South Caucasus. Lahij has an old sewage system (some experts claim that it was built 1000 – 1500 years ago). Due to frequent earthquakes local people have developed sophisticated and authentic construction techniques.

Sheki city tour. Departure from Lahij to Sheki city. Arrival in Sheki and check in at 4* hotel

Sheki city is one of the most interesting, original and beautiful areas of Azerbaijan. Administrative district center – Sheki city being allocated at picturesque southern slopes of Big Caucasian Ridge on the background of white snow tops – one of the most ancient cities of Azerbaijan.

Excursion 1: Shaki Khan Palace and Karvansaray.

Shaki Khan Palace was a summer residence of Shaki Khans. It was built in 1797 by Husain Khan Mushtag. The Palace of Shaki Khans was nominated for List of World Heritage SitesUNESCO.

Karavansaray is a historical monument in Sheki, a part of which is used as a hotel.

Lunch in a local restaurant “Chalabi Khan” with local meals.

Excursion 1: Tbilisi-Mtskheta

Mtskheta, the old capital of Georgia, recent religious centre. The town is included in the list of UNESCO. Here, in the 4th century, Georgia was officially converted to Christianity by Saint Nino, a young woman from Jerusalem. Under the main church Svetitskhoveli (the life giving pillar) is buried the Robe of the Christ, one of the most important relic of Christian world. Because of this and many facts Mtskheta has a role of the main pilgrimage cites of Georgia.

Excursion 2: Tbilisi city-tour

Tbilisi tour begins from Metekhi Curch rock platform, from where we make first glimpse over the ancient district of the capital.  The first special thing we see is a Mosque, Synagogue, Georgian, Armenian, Latin Churches and even the ancient worship house of Zoroastrianism standing together peacefully, as a sign of Georgian tolerant nature. We continue our route up to the Narikala Castle and overlook Tbilisi from the opposite sight. Visit Bath District, where it is possible to have hot natural sulfur water procedures with special massage, after which you will feel yourself like a newborn baby.

Day 9:

Excursion 1:  Kakheti Region

 Kakheti – there are about 2000 sorts of wine in the world. More than 500 sorts (i.e. 1.4) come from Georgia. The word itself “gvino” (wine in Georgian) is considered as a root for any foreign equivalent. The oldest wine vessel found in Georgia dates back to 6th millennium BC. So, Georgia supposedly is a cradle of wine in the world. Kakheti region is the cradle of wine in Georgia itself.

Excursion 2: Bodbe 
Bodbe – a convent in a very beautiful nature with the view of river Alazany valley. Bodbe is one of the most important pilgrim place, because there is a tomb of Saint Nino, who converted Georgia in Christianity.

Excursion 3: Signagi

Signagi, (a town of love) a nice touristic town with amazing view of river Alazani Valley and Caucasian mountains. Here the wedding house is always open. So that, you can make your love relationship official any time.

Excursion 4: Tsinandali

Visit the house-museum of local nobleman Alexandre Chavchavadze. Here we will find out that in Georgia, in XIX century, European oriented culture was not something strange even in the regional place. Afamous poet and diplomat Alexander Griboedov was son in low of Alexandre Cavchavadze. His famous comedy in verse “Woe from Wit” Griboedov wrote in Tsinandali. He and his beautiful wife Nino Chavchavadze, who widowed in 17 after several months of their marriage and never married again, are buried in Tbilisi, at the entrance of Mtatsminda Pantheon.

Excursion 1: Davidgareji

Davidgareji Monastery. Just at the border of Georgia and Azerbaijan, It was the largest monastic complex in Georgia, opened in 25 square km and dwelling for thousands of monks. It was severely ruined by Iranians at the beginning of 17th century. There tourists will see old caves with frescoes high up on the hill, overlooking Azerbaijan areas.

Excursion 1: Ananuri Castle and Jinvali water reservoir (via military highway)

Ananuri Ensemble – contains two churches and two towers surrounded by defensive walls. Down to the complex there’s a former settlement called Ananuri and also former main road, which is now covered by artificial Jinwali lake (water reservoir supplying Tbilisi). In old times, a residency of feudal usually stood high up of the road. Ananuri served as main fortified residency of Aragvi Feudals
Excursion 2: Visit Kazbegi (Stephantsminda), drive up to Gergety Trinity Monastery by option.

Kazbegi – Alittle town to the north of Georgia, some 7 km from Russian border. There are two main sightseeing in the region. One is Gergety Monastery situated on high hill. The second is  Kazbegi mountain, one of the highest peak of Caucasus.

Note: Price of one jeep 40$ (Mitsubishi Delica, with 6 seats). Payment in hand.
